The global goal of Team 2 of UMR_S 999 is to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of pulmonary hypertension (PH) at cellular and organ levels (i.e., the lung and heart) in order to develop effective treatment strategies. Our research focuses on:
(1) to explore the cellular mechanisms and molecular aspects of PH, including ion channel remodeling, PH-predisposing genes, transcription factors, and RNA-binding proteins.
(2) to decipher the mechanism of right ventricular remodeling and dysfunction occurring in PH
(3) to develop a long-term ex vivo human heart and lung perfusion platform, and enhance the reliability of a temporary artificial lung
Team 2 comprises researchers, physicians, surgeons, post-docs, engineers, and PhD students who are working together to develop translational research from the bench to the bedside for the benefit of patients with PH.
